A feature-length documentary for the modern creative, ’MAKE’, poses a question. Acts as a conversation starter. It serves as an examination of the inner workings of artistic minds that explores what drives us to make something new, something better, something different. In the process, this film breaks down the myth of creative success and hones in on what it truly means to live as an artist.
Why We Made MAKE
Producing MAKE as a long form documentary allowed for a deeper dive into the thematic elements we wanted to explore: artistic authenticity, the inherent struggles of the creative process, and the fulfillment it can bring.
How We Told the Story
MAKE centered on deep conversations with artists, designers, filmmakers and musicians—including Sylvan Esso, Aaron Draplin and Reed Morano—in which they spoke about their reasons for creating, as well as how concepts like identity and ego affect their livelihoods.
Building a Premiere Experience
The FM studio space was transformed into an art installation which served as the physical representation of the film. Making something, for the sole reason of making something.
MAKE premiered with an event held at the FM headquarters, which—from the art installation to the film itself—was designed to celebrate and embrace all aspects of the creative process.
